The Nisei girls red cross unit was started by the Japanese branch of the YWCA. Here, American-born girls practice first aid, knit and sew, while the boys drill in the State Guard. Left to right: Helen Masunaga, Lilian Banni, Margie Shimizu, and Dorothy Wada, instructor. (Miss Wada was a candidate for Nisei Queen in the Nisei Festival last year)
