Circa 1901, Henry S. Cooper opened an underwear manufacturing business, known as "Cooper's Underwear," that would remain profitable for many decades. By 1917, Henry's son, Robert S. Cooper, became his successor as president of the company so Henry could pursue other interests. Coopers Inc. merged into Jockey International in 1964, where Robert continued to be president.
