              <text>Wooden handles are painted with scene of the Gila River Relocation Center. The arts and crafts program was one of the most successful of all the camp activities. The internees created the items from scraps of wood, waste items and bits from nature. They also made their own brushes, paints, and tools from nails, needles, and common household items, melted down, pounded, scraped, and filed to make just the right tool for each job.</text>
