Here they are being given out.‚Äù Group portrait of nurses and patients outside the leper ward. Some of the nurses had knitted pullovers for the leper patients and a ceremony was conducted by Sister Margaret Burt when they were given out. Chogoria had a dedicated leper‚Äôs ward, funded by the Mission to Lepers, which was situated on a spur of land called Gatheru. ‚ùß The image is from the collection of Dr Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) showing the period from 1947-1961 at the Chogoria mission which was established near Mt Kenya, in 1922, and run by Dr Irvine.
