<text>Red Cross Headquarters Have More Than Ton Of Wool Yarn.; Red Cross Headquarters Have More Than Ton Of Wool Yarn. "Take up your knitting needless again" is the call issued through the Spokane chapter of the American Red Cross today to the army of knitters that numbered thousands a few months ago. The order to "stack needles" thaft was issued a few weeks ago has been recalled and the knitting departments of the local Red Cross headquarters is in receipt of 2400 pounds of yarn to be made into knitted garments for French and Belgian relief, the work to be begun at once. Children's sweater with sleeves, children's stockings in several different sizes, and women's shawls and scarfs are the garments to be made from this shipment of yarn. It is estimated that the 1200 pounds of sock yarn will make 3400 pairs of children's stockings, and the sweater yarn should supply 800 children's sweaters, 200 shawls and 300 scarfs. The yarn will be distributed only through clubs and auxiliaries. Individuals can not be supplied at the headquarters. "These garments are sorely needed," said Mrs. L. A. Tuttle, supervisor of knitting for the local chapter, today. "It will be two years before the garment factories of France and Belgium can resume their normal output and the war victims must look elsewhere for warm clothing. Must Follow Directions. "In regard to the work. I should like to ask knitters to follow directions carefully. Yarn should not be kept out indefinitely. If it is impossible for a knitter to use it, the yarn should be returned to the auxiliary by the time allotted. "Work must be properly done and completely finished in order to be acceptable at headquarters. Many garments are returned with knots tied in the yarn. All ends should be spliced and knots in the yarn should be removed."</text>
