Ward One was a predominately African American neighborhood that was demolished in the 1960s and 1970s through an urban renewal campaign. Former residents dispersed, but many did not forget the tight-knit community they once had in Ward One. The interviewees are members of the Ward One Reunion Organization, formed to celebrate those who came from Ward One.
