Not for a moment. It's the same as the loosely woven construction at the left. It was made by the Scranton Lace Company on standard equipment to demonstrate the unusual properties of Fiber E, the DuPont Company's newest form of the oldest of manmade textile fibers-rayon. After weaving, the fabric was treated with a dilute solution of caustic soda with the interesting results above. Fiber E in yarn form is indistinguishable from conventional viscose process rayon to the eye, but the physical properties of the new fiber set it apart from any other textile product. When crimped Fiber E fabrics become fuller and give an unusual texture.
