Description An account of the resource An advertising broadside with a 1991 calendar. "It's an inspiring story. A student of architecture and art at the time of the fall of Saigon. He left with the clothes on his back, the money in his pocket and a few photos. Lands in Arkansas at a base. Eventually hears from a Vietnamese friend in San Francisco, and goes there to start life over, from the bottom. Bus boy, cleaning, any job he could get, and then learned how to write a resume. Unsure but optimistic, he heard of all these new businesses in the south Bay, and took his resume to as many as he could, "not even knowing what they did". He lands a job at Intel, and it all begins to turn around. From there his design and art abilities became apparent and he was sought out to do a side job of maps for Silicon Valley (and later San Diego). It was a side project that helped establish him independently, and make a new life. Eventually it allows him to pursue art full time, he settles down, finds home to be San Jose, is knitted into the Vietnamese community there, and has a good life. The take away life lesson, "be quick to be flexible... adapt!"
