<text>Hannah, Flower, and Annie (not pictured here) were pack mates at the Austin, Texas, home of Charles Frederick and Suzann Thompson beginning in the late 1980s. When Suzann finished knitting a blanket with a mosaic-knit, dog patterned trim, the dogs knew intuitively it was for them.
They did not mind the scratchy texture of the British wool used to knit the blanket. The wool smelled great!

Suzann used her Incredible Sweater Machine to knit the dark brown center of the blanket. She hand-knitted the brown and cream mosaic border. The wool was slightly thinner than worsted weight. She adapted the border pattern from Barbara G. Walker’s Mosaic Knitting (1976), Mosaic 105 “Puppy Dogs,” Figure 69.

Hannah posed on the blanket for the first photo. The second picture shows Flower and the blanket on the cover of The Filament, the newsletter of The Knitter’s and Crocheter’s Guild of Austin.

The dogs moved to England with the Frederick-Thompson family in the mid-1990s. Flower was 15 years old when she passed away in England in 2002. Hannah and Annie moved back to Texas with the family the following year. In 2025, the family could not remember the fate of the blanket. </text>
