Description

175 February 24 - 7:15 P.M. Sat. My dearest darling: I've just finished a bottle of beer and some cheese and crackers and feel pleasantly fuzzy. I've determined to learn to like the stuff before you get home and this way learning in solitude I can make all the nasty faces I want. This morning I received the envelope full of pictures, and enjoyed reading all the comments. Picked up the enclosed contact prints - got some good pictures of Pam for Agnes. I stopped by for the ring, but it wasn't ready. After I left it, I wondered if I’d done the right thing. I did have sense enough to ask for and get a receipt, and it is a comfort to know it is insured. When we went to the Post Office this afternoon #141 was waiting- All radio programs just interrupted for the announcement that carrier planes were again hitting Tokyo - could feel [pg 2] the hair on the back of my neck stand right up. Gosh it's a funny feeling - I sort of hold my breath every time they came out with a pause that means a special announcement, wondering what it will be - I've just flipped Wendy from back to tummy for the third time since I put her to bed. She switched a nap this afternoon when she wasn't supposed to, and now she's wide awake - talking to, and now she's wide awake - talking, giggling, and playing with Mr. Teddy- The sprout has been such fun today beginning with cutting her upper tooth this morning - then this afternoon she stood up and sat down in her play pen for almost a solid hour - enjoying herself thoroughly and keeping up a lively conversation with herself. At lunch time she knocked her spoon out of my hand and flipped the puréed peas on the wall behind her highchair. She has such twinkly eyes - I love to watch her. I'm knitting little sweetie a new sweater - white-loose stitch with tight yoke and cuffs. I finished and blocked the green [pg 3] sweater, but haven't been able to find just the kind of ribbon I want to go down the front. More later - am going to scramble some eggs for my supper now- 8:15 Just happened to think - you’re probably with R. Hurtzburg (how the hell does he spell his name - I thought it was Ronnie) now - hope you are having a good time- Have learned to make a good tomato aspic salad - easy to do - lasts two days and with celery, onion etc. I put in - these are my vitamins for the day - Wendy is finally [shnoofies?] - perhaps we'll sleep later tomorrow morning - recently I've been having to take her in to bed with me the last half hour before we get up so she'll go back to sleep and let me sleep too. Going to wash the hair - bend it - take a bath and go to bed and read some more ‘Brave Men’ - it's good stuff- Love you sweety - lots and lots- Bobby
