Description

Handspun, handwoven, all hand-sewn long sleeve pullover shirt, collarless, with center front slit opening. Body of shirt is one length woven fabric, folded over at shoulders, seamed at sides with hemline slits. Slit front self-faced and closed with 2 brass hook/eyes. Set-in sleeve made from 2 lengths fabric, slit at cuff, closed with brass hook/eye. Seams have been turned back and double sewn. Collar and cuffs banded with light purplish blue and white (National Bureau of Standards) plaid, lightweight cotton. Weave: balanced twill 40-42 epi (-16 ends per cm), grayish yellow (NBS), warp-cotton, weft-wool. Many large holes, frays, stains. Patches: underarm-factory knit brown. Back-yellowish white balanced twill, 24 epi. Back to bottom edge-bound and patched in heavy cotton muslin.
