Banner made from cotton flour sack, embroidered to read "L'UNION FAIT LA FORCE / BELGIAN / RELIEF / FLOUR / HEARTY THANKS FROM BELGIANS TO / THE NORTHWESTERN / CONSOLIDATED MILLING CO. / MINNEAPOLIS, / MINN. /U.S.A.". Milling company name is stamped in blue on bag. An embroidered shield at upper left has white stars on blue background and red and white stripes; while the shield at upper right has yellow rampant lion on a black background with red border (Flemish lion). Banner has blue crocheted border on the top and bottom, with red and white fringe. Sacks of flour were sent from America to Belgian during World War I, where they were decorated and sent back as a sign of thanks.
