Football pants; William Skinner and Sons nylon satin body with cotton twill padding; 1946. Gold football pants with white quilted knee padding. Nylon satin body with cotton twill facing and padding and knit wool stretch gussets. Fabric made in 1946 in Holyoke, MA.
Gussets made from knit wool on center bag of legs to add stretch to leg opening. White quilted padding on interior of knees is attached at top only and enclosed into the pocket. Self bias tape encloses the edges of the padding. They are filled with batting. Cotton shoelace used for center front lacing. The body is nylon statin made by William Skinner and Son with a cotton twill used on the waistband facing. Made of side panels and crotch panels, which are continuous from center front after the lacing to center back. Six rows of buttonholes for lacing at waist. Triple stitched flat-feld seams on all vertical seams. Top stitching at waisted. Elastic at leg opeings. Pocket placed in interior on thighs, possibly for more padding. Dark, thin stains at crotch seams. Creaselines on right kneecap and pocket. Some holes in knit stretch on back of legs.
