A) Short cotton cord with bead, seed and feather pendants. Each pendant is made of a feather topped with a seed and and strung with red seeds. B) Long (118 cm) cotton cord with 2 small feathers and bead pendants at one end. Dr. Newton says these were obtained from and made by Kahukui, a 30 y/o female. Used. Said to be worn by both male and female. Used by a small child. Apinaye style because the maker has Apinaye connections. First you put on B, the long cord, and then you put on A below it, on both legs, though we have only 1/2 a pair, which has bug damage. This is called katsutchu or katsutchiu. A is a cross section of square cordage made from a single strand (crochet). Pendants are glass seed beads and macaw feathers. The long cord in A is 2s cotton, and the bead string and tie are 2z tucum/caroa. B is the same except that the pendants are cotton seeds, and macaw and parrot feathers. Newton field photos: bw B27.28. Prao, a 58 y/o female stands with grandson Hu?kro, a 3 y/o boy who wears this pair of knee cords with feather cords to demonstrate, at time of sale. Maker is the daughter of Prao. Price paid: 600 crs in trade goods for the pair.
