Photograph of Irene Williams sitting on the beach with her son Charles. Irene is wearing a dark colored one piece swimsuit with a swim cap and is sitting with her legs underneath her. Charles is wearing a checker print jacket with shorts and a knit cap. He is holding a small, toy shovel up to his face and there is a sand pail on the ground in front of him. There is also an area of sand in front of the family that has been dug up and there is a toy in this space. Behind the family, there are other groups on the beach who are sitting under beach umbrellas. There is a short brick wall behind these groups and on top of this wall are more people and benches.
