Description
American long-distance runner Ted Corbitt joined the New York Pioneer Club, the nation's first integrated running organization, in 1947. Corbitt was a marathon champion and a pioneer of ultramarathons in the United States. He was among the first five athletes inducted into the National Distance Running Hall of Fame in Utica, N.Y., in 1998.
An off white knit New York Pioneer Club racing shirt worn by Tedd Corbitt.
The shirt is sleeveless. There are navy fleece letters across the chest which read [NYPC]. The fleece is worn around the edges. There are some small holes, frayed areas, and stains on the front of the shirt. There is a white tag with tattered edges sewn on the interior of the neck. It has text in red thread which reads [WILTON / "since 189(?) / HONEYCOMB KNIT / MEDIUM]. There are stains and tattered areas on the back of the shirt as well.
