Description

Unpainted rawhide disk with three buckskin covers, pierced hide pendant and knitted cloth strap at back. Innermost cover: painted green with red pipe bowl at top, yellow four-pointed star at bottom, white rectangle on each side containing bullet marks, row of blue dots along right side. Bird skin and cloth bundle attached at top. Middle cover: Red line around perimeter, red dots and lines on cover. Badly stained. Outer cover: Blue dot at center surrounded by green, yellow, red, and blue concentric circles, red band around perimeter, red vertical dashes in between. Feathers and horsehair pendant at center, two folded fringed hide pendants at top. For a model of this shield see 229918-229920. 18" (46 cm). See Photographs section, entry no.
