Description

From card: "Folded double, of red wool with woven-in stripes of mixed white, and black. Ends braided. 2/1978 when this card was made the specimen was in very deteriorated condition, from having been moth eaten."
Commercial knitted sashes similar to this are found on several Kiowa and Comanche shields and models of shields in the collection. An illegible fragment of a tag with handwriting of James Mooney is attached to the sash as of May 2006.
Sashes like this are also sometimes used on dance bustles, see for example ET1273.
