Description

A is long cotton strand that holds 25 bead pendants with deer hoof tips and red/yellow/green feathers. Each end holds 4 tiny bead and feather tufts. B fits same description except differening with 24 bead pendants and 5 bead and feather tufts at ends. Note: An end strand is missing. Dr. Newton says these were obtained from Amjuk, a 48 y/o female. They were made by Amjuk, who did the bead work, and her mother Ireti, a 70 y/o female, who made the cord. Used by Amjuk, when they all lived in the Botica village. This was sold as an incomplete set without the pair of long cords. Knee cord with feather pendants is me?kai. The square cordage (cross section); seller says her mother who made the cord did it with 4 strands, but I cannot comfirm this; cord ends have the same 5 ends of beadwork as those made from single strand (crochet). [1 cotton strand end + 4 beadwork strand ends from 2 added lengths of tucum = 5]. Seller says she herself cannot make a cord with 4 strands, only with one. Cord is 2z cotton, bead cord and tie is 2z tucum/caroa, and the pendants are glass beads, deer nails/hoof, and macaw feathers. Price paid: 5 crn.
