Description
This Victorian era drawstring purse (reticule) is crocheted in a horizontal striped pattern in shades of purple. Each purple horizontal stripe is separated by one thin black and one thin yellow stripe. The thread is thought to be silk. Two purple tassels are attached to the bottom of the round concave shaped purse with a woven ornament resembling a Chinese garment closure referred to as a "frog." The top of each tassel is bound in gold metallic thread and wound into a pattern that also appears to have Chinese influence. No inscription
