Description
#118 Friday 26 Jan. 7:40 am Still immensely pleased with Wendy’s pictures My darling More than four months already (it feels like four years and yet in another sense it doesn't seem possible that I could have been away so long) and the time elapsed will seem more and more substantial from now on. Today we are to have a visitation from quite a sizable group of nurses, who will make a tour of the camp and end up at the Officers’ Club for beer. They will be the first white women seen by most of the gooks except for Betty Hutton, who was here several months ago. Tel Mook and I thought it wise to warn the teachers and thru them the school children not to expect a lot of Betty Huttons today. Yesterday, besides your letters 129 and 130 (which I'll answer tonight) I received from Evelyn Cash, a friend of Mother's in Memphis, a box full of yarn, needlework patterns, embroidery silk, crochet and knitting needles and sewing needles, etc. I shall pool them with similar stuff Tell has received to start off the girls’ sewing classes when they are organized and which I hope will be soon. (The equivalent of boys’ manual training classes.) Till later, sweetie I love you and miss you Warren
