Description
Photographs of the interior of the Armbruster Department Store showing several displays of women's clothing and fashions. William Armbruster, a recent immigrant, opened his first knitting establishment in 1872 at 11 East Rich Street. The business grew and relocated to 212 South High Street eventually expanding to encompass 212 - 214. Armbruster opened a full department store at 150-158 North High Street on December 1, 1900. William passed away in December 1901 and the store was co-managed by his wife and son, Harry. The store general manager was Walter J. Dwyer.
