There they made Sugar for themselves to eat. Their brothers were very ingenious, and made their own fiddles & flutes. Their father, like them, made his own Cart, barrows, & ploughs. — In a little while he had got 10 acres of wheat in growth. They remained there but four years - and then sold out to one Russell, for but a small advance. Raspberries & blackberries were abundant & fine, & grew where the woods were thinest. Gooseberries were there. There were nuts, called Beach nuts, they having three sides. — In the severe frosts the boys did as much knitting as the girls & the men & boys did the milking to spare the women.
