Straw hat

The brimmed hat is constructed of black straw and is enhanced with an ecru cotton crocheted covering. The hat has a rounded crown and a wide circular brim. The top of the hat is embellished with yellow, pink, white, purple, and blue silk flowers. The underside of the brim is covered with black velvet and the crown is lined with black satin. The extravagant style of this hat was known in Edwardian times as a "Merry Widow Hat.
