A heart-shaped pincushion with an open lace netting center and elaborate crocheted border. The body of the pincushion is white, while the border is in a variegated purple and cream colored yarn. There are several pins and one needle sticking out of the cushion. The crocheted part of the pincushion appears to be attached to a black backing, where the pins have been stuck.

A Note from the Contributor

Maria C. Vallejo: She Loved Her Pin Cushion. As a child, I remember my aunt Raquel getting ready for just about any occasion, she opened the door to her armoire, and the first thing I could see was a little doll full of pins and needles in the doll's dress. As a child, I thought I would never put pins in my clothes for fear of a pin hurting me. I remember finding the day and place where I bought this pretty and feminine pin cushion in a second-hand store in Pasadena. It cost a modest sum of .25 cents.

Condition

Good; some light discoloration
