A Note from the Contributor

Maria C. Vallejo: Openwork on linen or pulled thread, as it is also known, requires precise cutting of the warp and woof. It is not easy to create what this picture shows us. Patient hands, meditative moments, extreme care, and serious dedication to cut and not pull the thread beyond the precise point to reach the perfect place defines the angles and edges of the embroidery in the voided spaces created after pulling threads in both directions. This lovely and majestic tablecloth speaks of how it was honored, appreciated, and respected by its owner. Try to find a hole mended with the utmost care.

Condition

Good; small tear on the left side
