This short sleeved black knit polo-style shirt has a beige placket; a white, beige and black woven collar and sleeve cuffs. Beige embroidery reads: "Head Start Board Member." It has three black buttons, is a size L, and was sold by Dunbrooke. According to the donor, the early Internet service provider UUNET created the "Head Start" program in 1998 in order to partner with start-up Internet ompanies who were potential large customers for UUNET services. UUNET organized a team of in-house sales, marketing, finance, and legal experts to help "nurture" these strat-up companies with free advice - thinking that successful start-ups would look favorably upon UUNET and continue to buy the company's services. This garment was produced in 1999 for the twelve members of UUNET's Head Start advisory board. The shirt and a hand-sewn leather attache were given to the board members as year-end gifts.
