In this letter written likely in the winter of 1864, Henry Marshall Misemer (1832-1865) writes his wife, Martha. He lists 5 reasons why she probably should not come to visit him in Nashville. He hopes that the war will be over by fall, but he may be wrong. He tells her to fatten up the sow and sow the meadow with timothy seeds for the horses and cows. He tries to answer her question about when his time will be up, but it is unclear to him as he is still not part of a full regiment, requiring 1,000 men and they only have 815. He requests that she knit him two pair of socks and also for her to send his cotton ones.
