Girls at Roadside Stand

Title

Girls at Roadside Stand

Description

About 1935, these girls set up a stand in front of what is believed to be the home of their grandparents, Cap'n Claude and Miss Ella Lachicotte, on the North Causeway near the original Lachicotte's Store. Mary Elizabeth ""Buffy"" Lachicotte, Florence ""Foncie"" Lachicotte, Mary Stokes Lachicotte and Jane Ward are selling handmade willow baskets, jars of jams, jellies, honey and pickled shrimp, crochet-edged hand towels, seashells and a pom-pom quilt. Foncie was soon to be named valedictorian of her class at Winyah High School.
