Title

Ronald, Washington, neighborhood gathering, Ronald, Washington, circa 1930-1939

Date

1930? - 1939?

Description

Ronald, WA was a tight knit community made up of families who shared the rigors of life in a coal mining town. NWI Co's No. 3 Mine tunnels ran beneath Ronald and the Roslyn Cascade Coal Company bordered the town to the northwest. Just beyond it, the Busy Bee Mine and Roslyn Fuel Company. Julia Wallgren's family moved to Ronald in 1928 to be closer to the Roslyn Cascade Coal Company where her father mined. She remembers her family and neighbors had few material goods, but never thought of themselves as being poor.
