Williams attended schools in Virginia, New Jersey and South Carolina before she moved back to Baltimore at the age of eighteen. She worked in custodial services at Coppin state University and received an "Employee of the Year" award for her exceptional work. She was an active member of Hemingway Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church in the Cherry Hill neighborhood of Baltimore and enjoyed collecting tea pots, making jewelry and crocheting items for friends and family.
