Posing proudly with his grandchildren in the courtyard near the family home. Elders usually looked after the children while the parents worked the fields. The family lived and worked together as a closely knit unit. Elders were respected and admired for their knowledge and wisdom. Much of this wisdom was passed on to the grandchildren as a result of this close association.
