Description

This coat was made so that its wearer could fold back its front flaps to expose its lining ("revers") and mimic the broad, contrasting-colored lapels of a tuxedo. The small tucks ("shirring") at the shoulders are matched by the detailing on the model's purse.
Unlike most drawings in this series, this one has a small sketch of the side of the garment. The large hairpins (knitting needles?) stuck through the turban as decoration are a striking and interesting touch.
