Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour had wired Secretary of the Navy, Frank Knox and Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson to request that an Army-Navy "E" award be given to Miss Castle whose record was believed to be unequalled by any woman in the country. Miss Castle was a wardrobe woman on the set of the Hope-Lamour comedy, "They Got Me Covered."
