On back of photo: OT - Long.Supportive occupational therapy at the bedside. This elderly patient was admitted for testing and treatment on the medical service. The use of a new activity, knitting, which was introduced by the therapist for the mental stimulation of focusing the mind on a creative level rather than permitting the patient to be morbidly preoccupied with her condition. It further allows a release of tension that develops from being confined to bed rest, and may provide her with a new hobby interest to use following discharge. January 1960. Robert W. Long Hospital.
