Title

Marble Knitting Mills workers

Description

Workers pose in front of the Marble Knitting Mill along the Battenkill River near Rexleigh, NY. The Mill is unrealated to the Marble Knitting Mill in Brooklyn; the name comes from the fact that the mill cut Vermont marble until 1896 when it was repurposed. In all, thirty people are standing: 19 men, 10 women, and one young girl in the center. The figure on the far right is better dressed than the other men, and is presumably the director of the mill.
