Bohler Expects Little Change: Leaves For National Basketball Rules Committee Meeting At New York City.; Bohler Expects Little Change: Leaves For National Basketball Rules Committee Meeting At New York City. WASHINGTON STATE COLLEGE, PULLMAN, April 11—Little change is expected in the basketball regulations, according to J. Fred Bohler, Washington State director of athletics and physical education, left today to attend the national basketball rules committee meeting at New York city April 14, 15 and 16. He is the representative of the eighth district, composed of the Pacific coast states, California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Idaho. mThe main topic of discussion meeting is slated to be the elimination of the center jump. Bohler will recommend that no change be made until the southern division of the Pacific Coast conference has tried the system to actual play next year. The western organization is opposed to raising the baskets from 10 to 12 feet and favors retaining the present-sized ball. These two items have come in for considerable among the suggested changes. The national committee will discuss ways and means of eliminating the close-knit defensive work under the basket, which often jams the play and is widely regarded objectionable factor. On his return trip, Bohler will attend the convention of the American Physical Education association at Cleveland, Ohio, He expects to be gone 10 days.
