The instructions for these handknit swatches say that two lace patterns and one cable pattern had to be selected and knit within a seed stitch border. The design had to be balanced both vertically and horizontally and a pattern was written for each swatch. The lace swatches are Fern Lace and Horseshoe Lace. The cable is Little Plait cable. The lace swatches were knit using Cascade 220 fingering yarn and size 5 needles. The cable swatch was knit using Cascade 220 and size 8 needles.
