Center for Knit and Crochet thanks all who have contributed time and talent to collect, photograph, catalog, and contextualize the Maria C. Vallejo Lace Collection.

First, we are deeply indebted to Maria C. Vallejo and George A. Leinonen, without whom this collection would not exist. Ms. Vallejo lovingly collected each asset over her lifetimeprovided personal details about selected assets, and as a professional interpreter, graciously lent her skills to translating the text that accompanies this exhibit into Spanish.  Photojournalist George A. Leinonen worked with her to stage and photograph all the assets so visitors can zoom in to see the beauty of each asset at the stitch level.

We also thank the following members of CKC's Board of Directors:

Jennifer Lindsay, CKC President, served as overall project coordinator, working closely with others on the project team, the collector, and the photographer to provide oversight and coordination needed to complete the digitization process and the opening of the collection online.  She crafted the introductory text for the collection, and co-crafted and co-finalized the scope, content, and presentation of the collection, and related educational and promotional materials and events, in collaboration with team members.

Callie Lasch introduced the collector and photographer to CKC, and served as a point of contact with the collector, photographer, and family.  She developed the biographies of the collector and photographer, and the biographical content for the “Betsy Collection,” both featured in the introductory materials developed for the collection.  She advocated that CKC provide information about the collection in both Spanish and English to honor the collector’s heritage and attract a wider national and international audience.  She also produced and edited a short documentary film about the collector to celebrate the opening of the collection, and developed graphics for use in sharing the collection.

Rebecca Keyel, CKC Vice President, worked with the photographer to collect, organize, and manage the digital files and metadata, added the asset records to CKC’s digital resource, and coordinated the design and formatting of the digital collection, and the related background information and resources, for CKC’s website.

Maggie Phalen, CKC Secretary, carefully cataloged every asset, researching the textile techniques represented in the collection to develop a description of each asset.  She also created a Gallery of Techniques to help visitors recognize and learn about the many different textile techniques featured in the collection, and a Bibliography of resources to aid in self-study, both featured in the introductory materials.

Suzann Thompson, Elizabeth Okeyele-Olatunji, Jennifer Lindsay, and Lori Winterfeldt provided an invaluable second set of eyes and expertise in proofreading and cross-checking each asset description.

Kerry Kaleba assisted in the development of an outreach plan for promoting the collection to CKC members, donors, and others who will be interested to view, enjoy, and study this collection.
